Basic Artwork Guidelines

Although we use a wide variety of output devices to complete printed work, the vast majority of our devices print from the CMYK colour space. If you need to supply any of your origination using the RGB colour space for best results please advise us in advance or when delivering artwork.

Images

  • Colour images should be CMYK and a resolution of 300dpi.

  • B/W images should also be 300dpi and supplied as Greyscale or as CMYK files converted in Photoshop from a Greyscale image.

Page Layout Program

  • Page layout documents should be prepared to the finished page size plus a 3mm allowence for bleed.

  • All colours used in the layout should be set to print CMYK, not spot colour. Do not change the name of any Pantone swatches used within the layout.

  • All graphic files used within the document must be supplied.

  • Fonts used to create the layout should be supplied. They are only used only for the production of the intended work.

  • Solid black areas should be made up of the following CMYK breakdown C60 M50 Y50 K100.

PDF Documents

  • Supplied PDF's must be in 'single page' format with 3mm bleed and printers trim marks applied.

Proofs

  • In most cases where digital printing is the production method, a proof from the press will be supplied before printing the full quantity, this will form the basis of agreement on colour and content.

  • For conventional printing a digital or PDF proof may be supplied for approval of content before proceeding.

Supplied Proofs & Colour Matching

  • Where possible artwork should be supplied with a laser print to show content. If you expect the printed output to match for colour or substrate to any existing material, that material MUST be supplied before any printing is commenced.

FTP

  • Artwork files that are too big to deliver via e-mail can be sent to us by an FTP service. We can download from your own site or a dedicated site can be created for you to upload to our FTP server.
